How did all the ticks get here?

In just a couple of years wood ticks have moved into this area. Whitetail deer are usually thought to be the transportation vehicles but that can't be the case here. Deer are still very rare.

Dan, wood ticks are better than the deer ticks as they don't carry Lyme disease. It appears to me that picture is of a wood tick and I've read that they are expanding north in Ontario due to mild winters and are thought to get there by migratory birds. I would rather fight off hungry mosquitos and black flys any day vs finding a tick on me.
