The first week of April could easily have been the first week of March, weather-wise. There was zero melting and a big dump of snow. So, I have adjusted my ice-out slide rule accordingly. At this point, I would say it will be a week late or May 15.

Dan, while I can't fault your math, I certainly don't like reading the 5/15 date. My none scientific Hope is 5/10 or earlier. Forecast for the next 7 days indicates we will be in that inflection period where the temps will remain above freezing for more than 12 hours. If I was a gambling man, I would bet you on that date but also if you lost you would have to post an instructional video of how you fillet those northern so quickly. But I have nothing you would need if I lost.
Stay warm and think warm ice melting thoughts. LOL

So, the way I do it, I keep adjusting my ice-out date as the weeks progress. I see those temps coming too and if they indeed happen, and also if it is sunny, not cloudy, I will adjust my date earlier, maybe to May 10 also.
There is also rain in the forecast. That speeds ice-out, especially if it is followed by warm, sunny weather.
